The World health organisation say 2.3 billion will be overweight by 2015 with 700 million of those obese. Exercising to maintain a healthy lifestyle decreases a person's risk of developing certain diseases, including type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.
Everyone's body is different and has different needs. On the journey to being healthy we encourage people to do the best they can to achieve their personal goals without making comparisons to others. Meade TKD benefits every part of the body, including the mind.
Exercising generally causes the body to produce endorphins, chemicals that can help a person to feel happier and at peace. Stress is an often underestimated cause of many ailments. Stress can cause memory lapses, anxiety, panic attacks, weight gain or loss, tiredness, negative thinking, menstrual changes and loss
of libido. Work-related stress caused workers in Great Britain to lose 10.8 million working days in 2010/11. (Health and Safety Executive)
Women are especially prone to a condition called osteoporosis (a weakening of the bones) as they get older. Studies have found that weight-bearing exercise like jumping, running, or brisk movement can help men and women keep bones strong. Exercise can offer stress relief, help people sleep better and can also assist with mild depression.
Meade TKD can help develop new skills in break away and self defence. According to the Guardian, May 2004, one in eight adults has been or is being stalked. One in four experience domestic violence in their lifetime and although less than half of cases are reported, the police receive one domestic violence call a minute in the UK.
Bullying in the workplace has become an issue in recent years as well as parents dealing with abuse from children. The first form of defence is to run or simply get away before an incident occurs. There are also times when conflict is unavoidable. People often know a situation is happening and feel unable to react with the confidence to prevent it going further.
We encourage participants to be aware of their surroundings and act within the law to make themselves safe. Our approach helps to build confidence amongst peers encouraging participants to develop inner strength, create solutions to their problems and to embrace experiences outside of their comfort zone.
Gyms can be intimidating, expensive and monotonous often leaving people to their own devices. With Meade TKD you have access to a fully qualified instructor in a safe inviting environment. Activities are made fun yet challenging to ensure a varied yet realistic approach to fitness and self defence. All our instructors are fully insured, crb checked and have over 10 years martial arts experience.
